My 11 on 11

11 pictures over 11 hours on the 11th of the month.

Carrie Andelin does 10 pictures on the 10th. Ya'll should check out her blog the.boonie.life. She's so cute. (Yes Carrie, you're way cute, and I check your blog religiously!) So I was inspired to do a Puerto Rican version today. Enjoy!

We spent our Saturday bummin' around at home. It was nice and chill.

8:36 am. Breakfast!!! Animal shapes for Rhys and normal squares for me.

9:25 am. Practicing acrobatics. He's doing flips and jumping on the couch from the coffee table.

10:10 am. Having the rest of breakfast for a snack.

10:53 am. Bring on the sunscreen! Two pools, a slip and slide, buckets, and a water gun. Elsa loved her little pool (see video on previous post)!

11:46 am. Still going strong! Rhys is showing us his jumping into the pool skills. It was really funny. He counts himself down before he runs. He says, "one, two, six, seven, gooo!!!"

1:15 pm. Snack time. Although he had lunch about 30 minutes before, he's ready for a snack, and that's what he wants.

2:28 pm. Kids are in nap time. I found this cute felt headband kit at Capri the other day so I put it together. Looks pretty cute on the ball, right?

3:34 pm. Rhys and I take a walk toward the mailbox to look for some lizards. The neighbors orchids are blooming and beautiful.

4:00 pm. Elsa is awake from her nap and I try on the headband I just made and realize it looks ridiculous. I think she realizes how silly it looks on her and wants it off ASAP. It was still fun making it though, and maybe I can do something with it to make it look less silly.

5:52 pm. Showing off her first forehead bruise. Scott was watching her and she faceplanted off the couch onto the tile. He felt really bad.
When she was just learning to scoot around she fell off the bed on my watch. Scott teases me about it still. While I'm not glad she got hurt at least now he can't give me crap for the bed incident anymore. Now we're even!

6:42 pm. Taking an evening stroll. It's so nice here in the winter. It's still not oppressively hot and you can actually go outside and play without getting heatstroke. The evenings are so nice. It's really nice to take the kids and the dog for a walk before bed to kinda wind down.

Hope you enjoyed my 11 on 11!! Seriously, check out Carrie's blog and her 10 at 10. It's always so cute.

Craftiness

Santa was so sweet and brought me a sewing machine for Christmas. Just what I wanted! How did he know?! I'm so excited to learn to make really cute things now and be able to mend my own clothes. I've been hard at work figuring out how to work it. It's a Kenmore, and seems to be pretty user friendly. I haven't broken it yet so that's a good sign.

I was so proud of myself because I had to tell the fabric cutter lady how much fabric I wanted in Spanish and she actually understood what I said. Luckily the word YARD in Spanish is YARDA. That's the kind of Spanish I like speaking.

I had seen these cute Christmas napkins a while ago and really liked them. I'm so excited that I made something really cute and I didn't break my sewing machine or get super frustrated, like what usually happens when I sew. Now I'm on the lookout for another fun sewing project.

I just bought a pattern book from Ammeesbabies with tons of crochet flower patterns. I've been having fun trying some of the patterns out. They turn out so cute! I have a pretty cute model as well, so I think that might help their cuteness. This one is the gardenia and is so easy but turns out so great!

Snow in Puerto Rico

So every year at Plaza Las Americas they make it"snow". Which is really cool for kids who have never seen snow before. It's not actually snow, it's foam bubbles the shoot from the ceiling. Brinlee, who has seen snow before, was really disappointed when she learned she couldn't build a snowman with the snow. Rhys thought it was really cool though but he has no basis for comparison. I think it's really weird that my kids have never seen snow before.

It does really look like snow when it falls. Sigh, I miss snow.

This is Brinlee. I want her to marry Rhys so they can have beautiful blonde haired blue eyed children. She wasn't fooled by the fake snow.
This is Fisher. He is so cute! He played with Rhys the whole time. We got his face painted. I think he looks awesome.

Christmas Time in Puerto Rico

The day after Christmas we spent the day in Old San Juan. Ever since I finally found out where the ferry terminal is, and I don't have to drive and park there (it's a nightmare!) I've been wanting to go out to Old San Juan more. It's fun just to go and bumb around sometimes. Rhys really likes riding on the ferry too. We brought Rhys' kite and went to the big lawn near Fort Morrow. It's a very popular place for kite flying. People just go out there, fly their kites, and hang out. It's so much fun.

Rhys got tired of kite flying after a couple of minutes and rolled down the hill a bunch of times instead.

I love spending the day in Old San Juan with my cute family.

I feel brave over something not so scary...

Scott did this thing about 12 times without breaking a sweat. I did it once and nearly freaked out. I almost backed out, but then I remembered all the 9 year olds I saw going down it and my pride wouldn't let me. I did it once, and I will never do it again.

El Conquistador!!!

It's been a while since our family had a fun Puerto Rican experience. We decided we would take advantage of the long weekend and honor the Veterans by going to the Conquistador. It's this ginormous hotel in Fajardo. We had a blast! It was exactly what our family needed. The kids are pooped and kinda grumpy from playing but it was SO worth it. In the lobby area they have several types of birds. Rhys thought they were awesome. There was a cockatoo that says hola. That was pretty exciting for all the kids that stopped to check him out.

After we went down the big slide. We were surprised they let him come down the slides with us. They said he just had to be 36 inches tall. I really don't think he met the height requirement but nobody stopped us.

We were right across from the ocean. It was nice and cool. There are two sections to the hotel, one at the top and one at the bottom of a huge hill. We were at the bottom so we got to take a little cart, trainy thing up the hill. That was really fun for Rhys. He got really excited whenever we told him we were going to ride the train.
He got to sleep on his own huge bed. It took him over an hour to fall asleep. He just wouldn't stop playing. Scott and I went out on the deck to read our books and we would see some of the lamps come on. He was obsessed with this desk lamp that he liked to turn on and off. He got totally busted.
Scott was pumping the A/C like crazy (because he can). I was cold and I thought the kids were too. But they don't have blankets so we used towels for the kids. So Rhys slept under bath towel and Elsa got a hand towel.

Watching the sun rise while having a delicious waffle on the deck. We scored a pretty nice breakfast from the cafe there.

We took the catamaran out to El Conquistador's private island, Palomino Island. Elsa fell asleep on the way there so I spent a bunch of the time vegging out, snuggling her, which I love to do anyway. Rhys was super tired too so I got to snuggle him for a while as well. We didn't stay very long because we had to go check out, and I think had we waited too long Rhys might have had a melt down. He was wore out!!

So much fun!
